What Clothes to take on Vegas trip

When it comes to selecting the outfits for your Vegas trip, time of the year will significantly affect your choices. As January weather in Vegas is drastically different from July, check the weather forecast and be prepared for the season as well as for typical desert weather temperature fluctuations.

While choosing things that you need to bring with you to Las Vegas consider Vegas Dress Codes. Even though most of the casinos have NO dress code, Las Vegas nightclubs and some of the fine dining restaurants have a strict dress code.

For nightclubs men are expected to wear “business casual” attire (jeans or pants combined with collared shirt and dress shoes), while women are allowed to wear party or cocktail dresses, as well as jumpsuits (even nice shorts might go with high heels!). Fine dining restaurants require suits for men and cocktail dresses for women. If you are planning (and you should!) to see Vegas shows, choose more formal clothes and avoid over casual look.

Also, in Vegas hotels pool visitors are required to wear cover ups while making their way through the hotel to the pool.

Select your casual clothes based on your travel plans. If you are planning to walk a lot, visit Las Vegas surrounding landmarks (like Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam), book tours from Las Vegas, comfortable clothes and shoes appropriate for the season are a necessity. Hanging by the pool in a day club requires swimming suit, and sport clothes and athletic shoes are needed for work outs.

Staying safe in Sun

Guide for choosing the right sunscreen

For many people choosing sunscreen brings many questions like what brand is the best, what SPF to choose, will water resistance work, and more. With the abundance of choices on the market, it’s important to start with understanding of different types of existing sunscreens.

First of all, SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. SPF 30 or more is recommended by The American Academy of Dermatology. Sunscreens with low SPF 15+ protect from sunburn and may reduce chance of cancer as well as prevent early skin aging. Strong 50+ SPF sunscreens according to FDA do not provide any extra protection (so this should be the highest number you might want to consider buying.)

Second of all, UVA/UVB is ‘Broad spectrum’ and it means a sunscreen will cover from both types of rays (or one if it’s only UVA or UVB)

Then water resistance. The sun screen might stay on skin even when skin gets wet, and what you see on the packaging will specify when you should reapply your sun screen after getting wet.

Finally, you need to know how to apply your sun screen effectively. If you are using a sunscreen lotion, rub it all over your body. Use lip balm for your lips, make sure it has SPF of 30+. If you are using a spray version of sunscreen, spread it out from a distance stated on the label of the product. Make sure to reach all areas of your body that will be exposed to sun.

When you are choosing your sunscreen, make sure you pick a high-quality product. Chemical sunscreens are the most common and they work absorbing UV light before it touches the skin. However, some of the components in such sunscreens have high toxicity levels and some researchers are concerned about the benefits of chemical sunscreens. Physical sunscreens include ingredients that can reflect UV light, however, skin may feel chalky or greasy after application. Make sure you read reviews and choose your sunscreen product wisely!
