Tuscany Suites & Casino

We know what you want. You want to stay in Vegas like a VIP, but spend like a pauper. Well, you can’t have it all, folks…or can you? Cue a drum roll with an image (or in this case a video) of the Tuscany Suites & Casino. This mid-sized, Mediterranean-themed property on Flamingo Road may just fit the bill. Located about two blocks east of the Las Vegas Strip, the Tuscany Suites & Casino isn’t in the heart of the action, but it’s not far away (via taxi, car or resilient feet). And directly across the street in the Hughes Center, there are several fine restaurants — Lawry’s The Prime Rib, Claim Jumper and Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse — to tempt your palate. Although you’ll never confuse your surroundings at Tuscany Suites & Casino with being in Italy’s Tuscan hills, the atmosphere is charming. There are some Old World architectural flourishes, a lovely fountain and nicely landscaped grounds. In addition to the affordable price, what’s great about this hotel is that the suites are spacious. Don’t expect over-the-top décor or impressive high-tech gadgets. However, each suite does come with a fridge, a coffeemaker and a small dining area. The outdoor lagoon-style pool is beautiful (you’ll have no trouble relaxing here). You can also get a massage in The Spa at Tuscany. Plus, there’s a fitness room and a gift shop. The gaming floor is moderate in size with about 800 slot and video poker machines as well as craps, blackjack and roulette tables. Place a bet on your favorite team at the William Hill Sports Book,. There are a few other spots at the resort — the Piazza Lounge, Toscana Bar and TSpot Lounge — where you can unwind with a cocktail or listen to live music.  In the spirit of Italy, there’s plenty to eat at Tuscany Suites & Casino. Tuscany Gardens serves classic Italian dishes featuring veal, steak and seafood. Marilyn’s Café is a 24-hour coffee shop where you can order hearty breakfasts, burgers and dinner entrees (including an inexpensive prime rib meal). Head to Caffè Bottega for a cup of coffee that will impress a barista. And speaking of impressing people, Pub 365 will knock your socks off when it comes to beer. They have a seasonal rotating beer menu along with bar food that will tame your appetite. Bottom line…staying at Tuscany Suites & Casino won’t compare to staying in an Italian villa, but it doesn’t have to. Take a tour of the property and check out all it has to offer just a couple blocks off the Strip.
