Known for his soulful sounds and baritone voice, Morrissey’s hits include “Everyday is Like Sunday,” “Suedehead” and “The Last of the Famous International Playboys.”
From 1982 to 1987, Morrissey was lead vocalist for edgy British rockband The Smiths. The band rose to success quickly and were hailed as an important band to emerge on the British rock scene in the ’80s.
In 1985, The Smiths released their album “Meat Can Be Murder,” which spawned a vegetarian revolution throughout their UK fanbase. Morrissey has been an outspoken advocate for animal rights and has been a vegetarian since he was a child. Morrissey has joined forces with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), appearing in several ad campaigns throughout the years.
Since 1988, Morrissey’s career has taken off. His debut solo album, “Viva Hate,” was well received on the UK charts. From there, his albums “Your Arsenal,” “Kill Uncle” and “Southpaw Grammar” also did well. After relocating to Los Angeles, Morrissey took a five-year hiatus from 1998 to 2003. Upon his return, Morrissey’s 2004 comeback album “You Are the Quarry” was widely successful. Since then, Morrissey has released six more albums, all showcasing his unique sound.
