Morris Day & The Time have been bringing the funk to the music scene since the early ’80s, and now you can experience their energetic hits for two back-to-back nights at The STRAT. Originally created by the legendary artist Prince, The Time’s four funk albums are light and humorous in tone, and have heavy influence from other creators like Funkadelic, Sly Stone, and James Brown. On the original album, Prince played all of the instrumentation alongside singer Morris Day who was required to follow Prince’s guide vocals note-for-note. This takeover made the actual members of The Time upset in having to put their names on a product they didn’t create. The band split but reunited once in the ’90s and then again for the 50th Grammy Awards in 2008, and they would continue to play together under the name The Original 7even as well as The Time from that point on.
