He thought like a man, starred in Little Man, and has his BET show, called The Gary Owen Show. Now this comedian is hitting the Palms Las Vegas stage for a night of laughs.
Since launching his career two decades ago, Owen quickly became known for his rapid-fire humor and star-studded resume. After stealing the show in the movie College as the character Bearcat, he’s moved on to hit TV shows like House of Payne and has created four Showtime comedy specials. All we’re sayin’ is, his street cred is on point.
Other major film appearances include Ride Along, Daddy Day Care, Dotty & Soul, The House Next Door, and more.
Gary Owen grew up in a trailer park with his other six siblings and enlisted in the U.S. Navy right after high school. Even though this natural-born comedian did extremely well, earning a place on the Presidential Honor Guard, he never forgot his funnyman dreams.
During his time stationed in San Diego, he started performing stand-up in local clubs. He won two awards during that time, “America’s Funniest Serviceman” and “San Diego’s Funniest Black Comedian” even though Owen is very much not black.
The comedian has been voted “Black America’s Favorite White Comedian” by Ebony Magazine and was the first white man to get his own show on BET. His reality series follows his culturally-blended family in their 11,000-square-foot Cincinnati mansion.
