If you think Vegas can’t get any more thrilling, think again. Imagine soaring quickly through the air past neon signs and classic hotels under the world’s largest canopy and light show on the Fremont Street Experience while giving air-fives to the pedestrians below.
That’s Slotzilla. It’s a 12-story slot machine in the middle of the street. You can’t exactly miss it.
Starting at the east side of the Fremont Street Experience, the Slotzilla zip line is 77 feet high and 850 feet long. A zoom line that’s 114 feet high and launches riders in a horizontal position, as if they are Superman, flying 1,700 feet — the entire length of the Fremont Street canopy – at speeds faster than 35 miles per hour.
The experience begins as you check-in at the retail shop, located to the right of the ride when facing SlotZilla. From there you will walk outside and up the stairs to a second-story loading area. You’re weighed, strapped into a harness and your personal items are zipped into a bag that’s easily attached to your harness.
Next, you’ll ride an open-air, cage-like elevator up to the zip line platform. Watching pedestrians and the Denny’s below shrinking as you lift higher and higher will definitely stir up some butterflies.
On the launch platform, ride attendants help attach you to one of the four separate zip lines, in front of a gate. The gate opens and you walk down a short set of stairs until your feet are dangling (and your stomach dropping) in the air above a platform. Soon you’ll zip flawlessly through the air and underneath the Viva Vision canopy (even better at night). You may even find yourself chanting “SlotZilla!” at the top of your lungs.
A quick 850 feet later you are slowed by a braking system and land on a platform toward the center of the Fremont Street Experience. Once you’re unhooked from your harness and retrieve your personal items from your bag, you’re free to go.
The overall experience from check-in to dismount only takes about 20 minutes. But you’ll never look at Fremont Street Experience quite the same.
